Terms of Use

1. Who we are and how these terms work

Pocket World Online (the "Game") is operated by the Pocket World Online team ("we").

By creating an account, ticking the consent box or playing, you agree to these Terms of Use, the Privacy Policy, the Game Rules and the Refund Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Game.

2. Who can play

You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you may only play and make purchases with the permission of a parent or legal guardian, who is responsible for that use.

3. Your account

Your account is personal and tied to your email address. Keep your password secret: you are responsible for what happens on your account. Our staff will never ask for your password.

You may not sell, buy, lend or share accounts. Tell us right away if you think someone else got into yours.

4. The Game and virtual content

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to install the client and play.

Characters, Pokémon, items, in-game money, PokéCoins and any other virtual content are not your property, have no value outside the Game and cannot be exchanged for money. We may adjust, rebalance or remove content to keep the Game healthy.

During testing (alpha and beta) progress may be wiped. PokéCoins and items bought with money are kept through those wipes.

5. Purchases and donations

The Game is free to play, and every purchase is optional.

Nothing is sold for money yet: PokéCoins cannot be bought until a payment processor is named here. They belong to the account, are shared by all its characters and do not expire while the account exists.

PokéCoins only buy cosmetic items, conveniences and account services such as VIP time. Nothing for sale gives an advantage in battle, in catching or in progression.

Cancellations and refunds follow the Refund Policy and Brazilian consumer law.

Donations are not open yet either. Once they open, a donation will not give PokéCoins, items, VIP time or any advantage in the Game.

6. Conduct and cheat protection

You must follow the Game Rules. Bots, macros, modified clients, programs that read or change the Game's memory, exploiting bugs and real-money trading are forbidden.

To protect other players, the client checks whether other programs interact with it and sends the result to our servers. The Privacy Policy describes exactly what is sent.

7. Sanctions

If you break these terms or the Game Rules, we may warn you, suspend or close your account, block IP addresses, require a character to be renamed and remove what was obtained unfairly, including from accounts that received it.

You can appeal a sanction through the channel in the Game Rules. A member of staff reviews every appeal.

8. Availability and changes to the service

The Game is provided as is and may be offline for maintenance, updates or because of faults. We will try to give notice in advance.

If we decide to shut the Game down, we will give at least 30 days' notice, stop sales on the day of the notice and explain how to request a refund of purchased PokéCoins that were not spent.

9. Intellectual property

The Game's software, art, music, text and trademarks belong to us or to our licensors. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer or redistribute the client, except where the law allows it.

By posting content in the Game (names, messages, reports), you allow us to use it as far as needed to run and moderate the Game.

Pocket World Online is an independent project, with no connection to, sponsorship by or affiliation with other companies or registered trademarks.

10. Liability

We are liable for damage we cause as set out in the Brazilian Consumer Defence Code. We are not liable for losses caused by third parties who get into your account with your password, or by faults in your connection or device.

11. Closing your account

You may stop playing at any time and ask for your account to be deleted, as described in the Privacy Policy.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will announce important changes on the site and by email at least 15 days before they apply. If you keep playing after that, you accept the new version.

13. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of Brazil. Any dispute will be settled in the courts of your place of residence.
